Tory Lanez Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison

Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, has received a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of felonies related to the shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The announcement of the judge’s decision was made on Twitter by reporter Meghann Cuniff, who has been following the case and trial in detail.

While the prosecution had sought a 13-year sentence for the 31-year-old artist, emphasizing that his social media activity not only added to Megan Thee Stallion’s trauma but also encouraged further attacks on her, Lanez’s defense had other ideas. They asked for probation instead, along with a requirement for Lanez to enter a residential substance abuse program after his immediate release. The defense also raised concerns about the evidence used at trial and argued that Lanez’s apparent lack of remorse should not have influenced his sentencing.

The incident in question took place in the summer of 2020 following a party at Kylie Jenner’s residence. According to Megan Thee Stallion’s testimony, Lanez shot at the back of her feet and commanded her to dance as she was leaving after an argument.

Lanez has been in jail since December when he was convicted of charges including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of an unregistered, loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
