Several Shot in Chicago During July 4th Celebrations
A tragic incident unfolded during a 4th of July gathering in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, resulting in one person beaten to death and five others shot, one of whom succumbed to their injuries, according to the Chicago police. The shooting occurred around 4:47 a.m. on the 5600-block of South Ada Street, where a group had gathered. Witnesses described the scene as a joyful celebration abruptly disrupted by a sudden burst of gunshots. Disturbing footage shows a significant police presence and altercations among the crowds. Residents reported hearing over a hundred gunshots in the early morning hours, with one resident even discovering a bullet hole in their living room window. The aftermath revealed remnants of fireworks, shell casings, and empty liquor bottles, leaving unanswered questions about the events leading to the tragic outcome of the July 4th party. Currently, no suspects are in custody, and investigations are underway by Area Three detectives. Sadly, Chicago experienced a total of 20 individuals shot on Independence Day, resulting in the loss of two lives.
UPDATE: Five people are dead and at least 33 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago during the Fourth of July weekend, police say.
