Kai Cenat NYC riot update, over 60 people arrested
Pandemonium broke out on Friday afternoon when a massive crowd congregated at Manhattan’s Union Square Park for a meet-and-greet and giveaway hosted by livestreamer Kai Cenat.
The situation escalated into chaos around 3 p.m., with members of the crowd seen dismantling construction barricades and hurling various objects, some of which were aimed at the police officers arriving at the scene.
Amidst the turmoil, a vehicle, thought to be transporting Cenat, tried to depart, but was swarmed by the crowd. It inched through the dense mass of people before accelerating, with individuals hanging onto the sides and back. At least three were seen falling from the vehicle onto the road as it sped away.
Around 5 p.m., Cenat was detained by the police for questioning. He had neither obtained a permit for the gathering nor coordinated it with the authorities.
Later that evening, the police confirmed that Cenat would face charges, including at least two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly, among other accusations.
