Gunna Takes Aim At Lil Baby and Lil Durk In First Video Since Release

Gunna makes a powerful comeback with his latest track, marking his first release since his release from jail in December, as he fearlessly takes an offensive stance.

Breaking the silence on Friday (June 2), Gunna drops his latest track, “Bread & Butter,” delving into the whirlwind of controversy surrounding his recent plea deal in the ongoing RICO case targeting Young Thug’s Young Slime Life (YSL) collective. Facing allegations of being a criminal street gang, Gunna addresses the commotion that has unfolded over the past six months, shedding light on his perspective through his powerful music.

Gunna’s lyrics suggest a connection to the recent accusations surrounding Pierre “P” Thomas, co-founder of Quality Control Music and Lil Baby’s label boss. Reports emerged last month, revealing alleged documentation indicating that Thomas provided information to the police in 2010 regarding the murder of a dear friend.

In the aftermath of Gunna’s plea deal, it seemed that Lil Baby, alongside several other rappers, made a move to unfollow Gunna on Instagram.

Gunna’s fierce lyrics might also be directed towards Lil Durk, his collaborator on “What Happened to Virgil,” who apparently dissed him on an unreleased track and publicly criticized him for allegedly providing information about Young Thug during a recent interview with Akademiks.

Gunna, known by his real name Sergio Kitchens, entered into a plea deal in the YSL RICO case shortly before Christmas, leading to his release from Fulton County Jail after approximately seven months of incarceration.

Under an Alford plea, Gunna pleaded guilty to a single racketeering conspiracy charge. This type of plea allows the defendant to admit guilt while maintaining their claim of innocence towards the same charges, as explained by Cornell Law School.

Gunna has faced significant scrutiny, especially due to a video in which he acknowledges YSL as a gang during his plea deal. Legal experts suggest that his plea, along with those made by other co-defendants, poses a greater challenge for Young Thug in his fight for freedom, as prosecutors aim to portray him as the ringleader of the group.

Young Thug remains in custody, awaiting trial on eight charges, including conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, participation in criminal street gang activity, and various drug and weapons offenses.

Despite the intense backlash, Gunna and his legal team have consistently denied allegations of him providing information against Young Thug and other YSL defendants.
