Who is BigXthaPlug?

BigXthaPlug, the rapper named Xavier Landum, is a rising star in the music industry. With his unique style and captivating lyrics, he has been making waves and gaining recognition for his talent.

BigXThaPlug’s journey in the rap industry began with a unique blend of determination and multitasking. After crafting his initial rhymes in a jail cell, he juggled hustling to support his growing family with soliciting feedback on his early songs from customers in a makeshift hotel room turned trap house. “I would offer my merchandise and ask people to give my music a listen, seeking their opinions,” recalls BigX.

Fast forward to today, and those makeshift setups have evolved into fully equipped recording studios and concert venues, including his own residence just outside his hometown of Dallas, where he’s currently conducting this interview. His efforts have paid off, evident in glowing album reviews, increasing monthly streams, and TikTok videos featuring his music—a testament to his blossoming career.

Since dropping his debut project, “Bacc From the Dead,” in 2020, BigXThaPlug has captivated audiences with his deep, charcoal-toned voice, magnetic charisma, and knack for vivid storytelling, positioning himself as a fresh face in Texas street rap. His 2022 track, “Texas,” boasts over 19 million YouTube views and 39 million Spotify streams, while “Whip It,” from the deluxe edition of his 2023 album “Amar,” is gaining traction with the #WhipItChallenge on TikTok.

Recently, he embarked on the Don’t Mess With Texas Tour, capitalizing on his rising fame beyond state borders. Despite the newfound recognition, BigX remains grounded, accustomed to attention from his football days and the extremes of his upbringing.

Raised by a strong-willed mother and disciplined father, BigX was exposed to a diverse musical palette from a young age, bonding with his father over classics by the Isley Brothers and soaking in Houston vibes from his mother’s UGK playlist. Despite his early struggles with academics and behavior issues in school, football provided an outlet for his energy and aggression, eventually leading to college opportunities.

However, a detour into selling drugs resulted in legal troubles and stints in jail, where BigX found solace in penning his first rhymes. Upon release, fueled by a newfound purpose, he financed studio time with earnings from his hustle, culminating in the release of his mixtape “Bacc From the Dead” and breakout visuals like “Mr. Trouble,” which garnered millions of views.

His talent caught the attention of UnitedMasters, paving the way for a transition from the streets to the studio. With an upcoming joint tour with Kevin Gates on the horizon, BigX remains focused on his latest project, “The Biggest EP,” showcasing themes of financial literacy and wealth building.

His latest single, “Mmhmm,” featuring a sample from The Whispers’ 1979 hit “And the Beat Goes On,” marks his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, signaling yet another milestone in his burgeoning career.
