4 volunteers just entered a virtual “Mars” made by NASA

In a pioneering venture, four individuals willingly ventured into a simulated Mars habitat to embark on an extraordinary 378-day journey. Chosen from a diverse applicant pool, the team consists of research scientist Kelly Haston, structural engineer Ross Brockwell, emergency medicine physician Nathan Jones, and U.S. Navy microbiologist Anca Selariu. Together, they are taking part in NASA’s groundbreaking Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA) program, which aims to replicate the challenges of a real-life mission to Mars. Notably, none of these remarkable participants have undergone astronaut training, making their mission all the more remarkable.
